Wait for Tesla cars is over for Indian customers , the US electric vehicle giant Tesla is all set to enter India with its best-selling Model 3 by the end of first-quarter financial year 2021-22. Bookings will start anytime soon. October, as per sources close to matter , Tesla plans to resume bookings next month and start delivery by the end of the first quarter of 2021-22.
As announced by Elon Musk on Twitter in 2016, the first car to be available in India will be the Model 3 Sedan. The expected price is about INR 55-60 lakh and bookings will resume in India from next month.Some disaapointment for dealers those who were planning to take Tesla dealership, like other markets, the company will not appoint any dealers and will be selling directly with a strong focus on digital sales. Its been almost four years since the company first thought of the India debut but had delayed citing infrastructure issues .Sources suggest that Tesla has achieved the desired numbers for Model S and Model X and the focus is to push the numbers for Model 3 and that’s how the Indian plan may help the company. Tesla reportedly has been exploring options to set up a plant in India.
The performance of Model 3 is very good, offering 500 km of range, and a top speed of 162 mph while vrooming 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
