MINI Gifts a New Hybrid Drive

The BMW owned auto company, MINI Cooper has now put its hands on the hybrid sector. The company is all set to introduce it first hybrid car featuring a combustion engine and an electric motor. The car has undergone its development phase and will soon be introduced to the public.

The company claims that with this product the customers will be encouraged to adopt to hybrid cars, and it will also impress the existing ‘hybrid drivers’.

In this new MINI the rpm counter in the instrument cluster is replaced with a power display. Before the combustion engine starts, the instrument cluster informs about the electric motor’s power reserve.AUTO eDRIVE standard mode permits speeds of up to 80 km/h, whilst in MAX eDRIVE mode speeds of up to 125 km/h are possible.

This MINI claims to make the all electric drive an exhilarating experience. The drive promises to be powerful and the speed would not be limited to 30 - 40 km/h, but beyond the city traffic pace.

This hybrid works on a smarter concept. The electric motor transmits its power to the rear wheels, the combustion engine to the front wheels. Since the intelligent energy management is linked to the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), traction and drive stability are optimised.

Intelligent energy management offers a further opportunity of a third mode - SAVE BATTERY. In this mode, the combustion engine powers the car whilst at the same time, the high voltage battery can retain charge at a constant level or indeed increase charge via a generator.

In total, this offering by MINI is surely going to blow minds once launched. The go-kart driving feel and the hybridity would surely attract the customers.
