Mercedes Benz India, on Thursday, added a 9th arm to its “make In India” portfolio - the SUV GLC.Priced at Rs.47.9 Lacs, the home made model has to offer both diesel and petrol engines in three variants.These are - 220 d 4MATIC Style, 20 d 4MATlC Sport and 300 4MATIC Sport.
The prices of the SUVs are - Rs 47.90 lakh (diesel, Style), Rs 51.5 lakh (diesel, Sport), and Rs 51.9 lakh (petrol). The GLC will be the fourth SUV to be locally assembled at Mercedes Benz India's Chakan plant in Pune. Production of the GLC will commence within 4 months of the launch.
The Mercedes GLC 300 4MATIC features 1991cc engine which churns out 180 kW output @ 5500 hp, and 370 Nm torque @ 1300-4000 rpm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds with maximum speed of 222 km/h. The Mercedes GLC 220 d 4MATIC comes equipped with 2143cc engine which gives 125 kW power @ 3000-4200 hp, and 400 Nm torque @ 1400-2800 rpm. It can go from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds with a maximum speed of 210 km/h.
The sturdy look of the new GLC showcases the radiator trim and two louvers in matt iridium silver with chrome inserts. The characteristic SUV front with a short, succinct overhang, upright, three-dimensional radiator grille with a twin louvre and centrally positioned brand star follows the successful new design line, striking LED High Performance lamps lend the GLC a self-confident look which is further emphasized by their distinctive design.
The interior of the locally produced GLC Sport features a Panorama top sliding electric roof, lockable cargo floor, ambient lighting with 3 colour options, keyless starting function, and active parking assistance with reversing camera.
