Audi has suspended the sale & production of Q5 SUV for a while after the testing agency ARIA found that the emissions from the model are quite higher than the permissible levels.
As per the sources ARIA found that the Nitrogen Oxide level so found was higher than the stipulated level during the testing of its diesel variant.
As per the sources the air that got trapped into the coolant system looks like a major concern and a reason for the high emissions.
The company for now has withdrawn the production and sale of the car.However, a notification about the rectified model might just come up.
The company is working on fine tuning the software pertaining to the nitrogen emissions. The New model is under its testing stage at ARIA facilities.
However the withdrawal of the model, especially in the festive season may become a major setback for the company.Rivals such as Mercedes Benz has been adding to its SUV portfolio, and may gain in numbers due to the absence of Q5 .
Audi is part of Germany’s Volkswagen group, which is in the middle of a controversy over the use of a cheat software to hide higher emissions. The group is recalling cars and paying penalty across many markets, and a call-back of models from Audi, VW and Skoda has also been slated in India.
